Draws take place at 11 PM ET. To play, you have to select five numbers between 1 and 41.
There are four different ways to win, with fixed prizes for matching two, three or four numbers. The jackpot is paid out if anyone matches all five numbers. It is divided equally if there are multiple winners. If nobody wins, the grand prize rolls over to the next draw.
Tickets cost $1 per play, but there is also the option to add EZ Match for an additional $1. EZ Match gives you the opportunity to win instant prizes as you buy your tickets.

Cash 5 History
Cash 5 launched in Virginia in February 1993, with draws initially taking place twice a week and players required to pick five numbers from 1 to 34. EZ Match was introduced on October 26, 2020. The jackpot crossed the $1 million mark for the first time on January 20, 2022, when a single ticket won a record prize of $1,008,842.
How to Claim a Prize
The procedure for claiming prizes depends on how much you have won, but you must always make your claim within 180 days of the draw date.
Up to $600
If you win a non-jackpot prize in Cash 5, the simplest way to claim your money is to visit a Virginia Lottery retailer. If they do not have enough cash available, they will still be able to pay you with a check or money order. Alternatively, you can mail your ticket to the Virginia Lottery. You should sign the back of it and use registered mail. It is also recommended that you keep a copy of both the front and back of the ticket. The address you need is as follows:

Over $600
You can claim prizes of more than $600 by mail, or take it to a customer service center. You will need to submit a valid government-issued photo ID and proof of your Social Security number. The claim centers are situated in Richmond, Harrisonburg, Hampton, Abingdon, Roanoke, Woodbridge and Farmville.
