Gopher 5 History
Gopher 5 was introduced in May 1991, making it the first Minnesota-only game to be played in the state. The jackpot has climbed higher than $1 million several times in the past, with the biggest-ever win a $2,032,201 payout that went to 22 co-workers from Watonwan County on November 8, 2005. That record jackpot came just months after the number matrix changed to its current format of 5/47 on September 21, 2005. Up to this point, players had to pick five numbers from 1 to 42, and a Bonus Ball was also drawn. The minimum win was for matching two numbers plus the Bonus Ball.
