Lucky for Life History
Lucky for Life started out in Connecticut in 2009 and has since become a popular multi-state game, with the distinction of being one of the few that offer a lifetime annuity prize.
The lotto was originally called Lucky-4-Life. In 2012, the game's name was changed and lotteries across New England started selling tickets. The number matrix was changed from 4/39 and 1/19 to 5/40 and 1/21.
2013 brought more updates, with the addition of a second-tier annuity for life prize plus cash lump sum options for the first and second prizes. The number matrix was also changed to 5/43 and 1/43. The matrix underwent yet another change in 2015, to 5/48 and 1/18.
Between 2015 and 2018, Lucky for Life moved from being an East Coast game to going nationwide, with 26 lotteries eventually taking part. However, in 2021 Missouri, Minnesota and South Carolina ended the game.
In July 2021, Lucky for Life moved to daily draws.
How to Claim a Prize
Prizes below $600 can usually be paid out by a lottery retailer in the state where you bought the ticket. For larger prizes, contact the lottery for more information on how to claim. You will likely be required to submit the ticket, a winner claim form, and identification in person at a lottery office or by mail. Most states have a claim deadline of 180 or 365 days from the winning draw date.
