Indiana Hoosier Lotto Overview

  • To play Hoosier Lotto, you must select six numbers from a range of 1 to 46. Tickets cost $2, with a cut-off time of 10:39 PM ET on draw nights.
  • To win the jackpot, you must match all six winning numbers. The grand prize starts at $1 million and increases each time it rolls over.
  • In addition to the jackpot, there are four other prize tiers; in the lowest prize tier a free Lotto ticket can be won in lieu of a cash prize by simply matching two numbers.
  • You can also add the Plus option for an extra $1 per play to enter your numbers in a second draw held just after the Hoosier Lotto draw for the chance to win up to $1 million. Your ticket is eligible to win a prize on both Lotto and Plus.
  • Hoosier Lotto tickets automatically include a multiplier number that boosts prizes below the jackpot by 2-10 times. The multiplier also applies to Plus prizes below the jackpot.

Indiana Hoosier Lotto History

  • April 1990
The first Indiana Lotto draw game was held in April 1990 with the original name of Lotto Cash and initially required players to match six out of 44 numbers to win the jackpot.
  • September 1994
In September 1994 the game was renamed as the Indiana Hoosier Lotto and the matrix was scaled up to six from 48. Despite the introduction of a variety of scratchcards, secondary daily draw games, and multi-state games such as Mega Millions, the main Hoosier Lotto has remained hugely popular in Indiana and has seen relatively few changes.
  • November 2007
The biggest-ever jackpot reached $54.4 million and was won by Peter Gilbert, a retired steelworker, on November 7, 2007.
  • April 2016
The biggest recent update came on April 27, 2016, when the number field was reduced from 48 to 46, and Hoosier Lotto Plus was launched to give players even more ways to win.
