Thunderball Overview

Launched on 12th June 1999, Thunderball was initially a secondary game to the main UK Lotto draw and was held on Wednesday and Saturday evenings.

In 2010, five new numbers were added, the jackpot was doubled from its previous value of £250,000, and the Friday draw was introduced. On 30th January 2018, the Tuesday draw was introduced so Thunderball would take place alongside both Lotto and EuroMillions draws.

In order to enter, participants must choose five numbers between 1 and 39, as well as a Thunderball between 1 and 14. Tickets cost £1.00 and in order to win a prize, you must match at least the Thunderball. The Thunderball number cannot be substituted with any of your main numbers.

Prize capping comes into effect when there’s a far greater number of winners than is usually the case.
