Irish Lotto Plus 2 was introduced in September 2002 as the second of two additional draws which give players the chance to win extra prizes with their Irish Lotto numbers. The Lotto Plus 2 jackpot stands at a fixed €250,000 when it is drawn on Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
To play both Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2, ticket holders must enter the main Irish Lotto draw and pay an additional €0.50 per line. The minimum amount of entries for Irish Lotto is two, which means that players must spend a minimum of €1 on Lotto Plus. This also gives them an entry to the Lotto Plus Raffle, in which multiple ticket holders can win €300 by correctly matching a four digit code drawn on the night.

When Irish Lotto Plus 2 launched in 2002, its jackpot stood at €200,000. This rose to €250,000 in November 2006.
In September 2015, the Lotto Plus 1 jackpot was boosted to €500,000 and the Lotto Plus Raffle was introduced as part of a number of changes made to Irish Lotto. Lotto Plus 2’s jackpot remained the same, although two more balls were introduced to the pool.
